The Building Inspections Office is responsible for ensuring public health, safety and welfare associated with the construction and use of buildings. The department inspects all building construction for compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. The Building Code requires that a building permit be obtained from the Building Official to construct, alter, repair, add to and remove or demolish any building or structure in Franklin County, the Town of Boones Mill and the Town of Rocky Mount. Permits also are required for the installation of fuel and gasoline tanks.
