Provides toys to needy children during the holiday season. Businesses and individuals can donate toys to Toys for Tots at distribution sites in your area. Will take requests for Nelson and Greene Counties if there are families in need of holiday assistance that can't get toys at other agencies. Toy requests are taken beginning October 1 until November 15th. Requests for toys are to be made through LOVE Inc, the local Region Ten Community Services Board, Social Services, Salvation Army, or United Way. They will send a list of toy requests on to Angie Jefferson. The STEP Christmas Store, typically the first Saturday in December, offers new gifts at 50% or less off of retail prices to the parents and guardians of children residing in Gilpin Court and the surrounding areas.

Collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

GRACE offers Christmas gifts for children ages infant through 16. Senior Christmas program for those 55 and older. Thanksgiving meal program. Pre-registration is required in early to mid-October; no late registrations are accepted.

FISH provides holiday food and toys to low-income people. Referrals are received through Fairfax County Public Schools social workers, North County Community Service Board and some community-based organizations. A limited number of self-referrals are taken, also.

Serves the counties of Spotsylvania and Orange and Fredericksburg City with ministries that reach out to individuals and families that are economically challenged, including serving meals at the Thurman Brisben Center, Christmas Angel Tree program, Warm the Hearth and more.

Visits nursing homes, correctional institutions, jails and shut-ins, particularly at Christmas time. Area nursing homes receive a visit once a week (every Wednesday).

Bring picture ID for adults, proof of income, verification of address along with birth certificate and/or refugee cards for all children in the home. Must know clothing sizes, bring an interpreter if needed, and provide information about monthly expenses. 30-45 minutes additional time will required to receive appointment information for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
