Southwest Virginia Child Development Clinic offers a multi-disciplinary team approach for the evaluation of children and youth from birth to 21 years, suspected of having developmental delays and/or disabilities from our twelve county, three city area. The process involves testing, assessing, and making a diagnosis. We will make referrals and recommendations as needed to address the needs of our children and their families. Field clinics are conducted on a limited basis within the region. Diagnostic Evaluations are performed for the following: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, Developmental delays, Mental Retardation, Behavioral/Emotional Disorders, Learning Problems, and other developmental disorders or disabilities.

Infants and children are provided periodic comprehensive medical examinations, immunizations to prevent childhood infectious diseases, developmental screenings, lead screening, parental education regarding nutrition, safety, and health, and referrals to other agencies. Case management services are offered to high-risk infants and children.

Maternity Care Pregnant women are provided medical examinations; education regarding healthy lifestyle behaviors including nutrition, breastfeeding, exercise, and safety; and referrals to other agencies. Kena Shriners provide transportation for over 300 Shriners Hospital patients who live in Northern Virginia.

School entry physicals for indigent clients are available throughout the year.
