Education of the public is provided to minimize risk of future outbreaks.

In addition, the TB team assists with identifying associated cases, the testing of contacts, transportation for CXRs and home visits to deliver medication to perform Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and Directly Observed Preventative Therapy (DOPT).

Investigates animal-to-man bites, domestic animal exposures and quarantines suspected rabid animals. Prepares and delivers samples for rabies examination. Works with other organizations to set-up rabies vaccinations clinics.

Tests for sexually-transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS and for other communicable diseases like TB. Other services include information on communicable diseases, investigations of suspected disease outbreaks, and preventive treatment for certain diseases. Outbreak investigations can be for suspected food or waterborne diseases, bioterrorist events, and contagious diseases spread to humans by either animals or other persons. Free Hepatitis B & Hepatitis C testing available.

Tuberculosis risk assessment screening and tuberculosis skin test(PPD) placement and reading upon request for a charge. Services are free for those that have come in contact with a person infected with tuberculosis. Medication assistance available to those who qualify.

Provides site evaluations and permitting for on-site sewage disposal (septic) systems and private wells, as well as regulatory oversight for private sector evaluations and designs in these fields. We provide health education to the community with regard to safe food handling practices, lead exposure, radon, rabies, and other environmental health concerns. We also inspect and/or permit daycare and adult care facilities, school cafeterias, restaurants, hotels/motels, bed and breakfasts, festival and fair vendors, campgrounds, summer camps, migrant labor camps, and marinas.
