The Upward Bound Program at WCC is a college prep program designed to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from college. The Upward Bound program serves 57 high school students in grades 9 through 12 from George Wythe High School, Rural Retreat High School, Ft Chiswell High School, Carroll County High School, Galax High School, and Marion Senior High School.

Provides free, appropriate educational opportunities for all students with disabilities, ages 2 through 21 years. Services are provided in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment, as outlined in the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The IEP is developed cooperatively by the student's parents, educators, building administrators/ designees and other invited participants. The student is also included when appropriate.

Provides local government authorized public school special education serving residents of King William County. Grades Kindergarten through 12th grade.

As a K-12 school, Dooley School primarily serves students diagnosed with emotional disabilities, specific learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities and other health impairments. Staff-to-student ratio ranges from 1:6 to 1:8 depending on disabilities being served in the classroom. Local school systems place students with Dooley School to help address academic and behavioral challenges. Counselors on staff help students develop self-esteem, learn how to build relationships and be successful in their community.

Special education and related services to severely/profoundly handicapped and/or autistic students ages 2-21. Also serves as an alternative school for pregnant teens.

A full day special education and related services program for students with autism, emotional disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities in a middle school (grades 6-8); a secondary school (grades 9-12); and in a non-graded (ages 11-21) educational program.

The Villa's Dooley Center for Alternative Education serves middle and high school students residing in Henrico, Hanover, and the City of Richmond who have been suspended or expelled from public school, or are returning from a state learning center. The curriculum covers all areas of academic study while stressing the importance of making positive choices and providing students with support and guidance within a structured environment. Dooley Center for Alternative Education help students make up the academic work they missed during their time out of school, using a duel service delivery approach of both direct instruction and online learning to meet students' individual needs. Staff and students work creatively to set goals and earn rewards for success.

A nurturing environment for children with disabilities. Care is available for a few hours, before and after school or all day. Six classrooms are arranged according to the child's age and developmental level. Computers, adaptive toys, and other special equipment are available for the children.

Therapeutic boarding school provides the following clinical services: • Individual, family and group therapy with a PhD clinical psychologist, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, two LCSWs, and a consulting Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist • Therapeutic developmental approach • Relationship-based interventions • Family involvement, parent workshops, support group, and retreat • Social pragmatics and social thinking curriculum • Speech and language therapy • Occupational therapy • Art therapy • Animal assisted therapy

An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed for each child who qualifies for special education services under IDEA. The IEP is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the individual child. Provides an elementary educational institute and preschool that offers adaptations for test taking, audiological evaluation and diagnosis, and Child Find Service for disabled students.

Provides remedial educational services to students ages 6 through eighteen, who have learning disabilities and/or attention deficits. Offers full day remedial school, summers school program, tutoring, psycho-educational assessment, and parent consultation and education.

The school provides services on-site from early intervention through school age and intensive programming for children and young adults diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. In addition, the school offers a variety of consultative services, including home-program support, school consultation, after-care and summer programs and community workshops.

Provides free special education to Isle of Wight County residents ages two to 21. The process of the of receiving this type of education is as follows: identification, referral, evaluation, eligibility, IEP development, placement and triennial re-evaluation.

The program focuses on functional academics, daily living skills, community-based instruction and career-based training.

Provides general education services for grades K through 12 and special education services for ages two to 21. Provides GED classes an examinations where appropriate. Summer school is offered. Continuing education and vocational technical training is offered to students and to community citizens. School facilities are available for rental by community organizations.

Proprietary day school program provides special education services for students ranging in age from five to 22 years, who have been unable to succeed in the public school setting due to severe behavioral difficulties, high truancy rates, low self-esteem, delayed social development, and a history of low motivation and academic achievement.

Ivymount operates two schools: Ivymount a nonpublic Special Education day school for students with autism and related disorders, Kindergarten through age 21; and The Maddux School - a private General Education school with a distinctive social learning curriculum for pre-kindergarten through second grade.

The Oberle Academy is dedicated to supporting students with special needs. Offers small class sizes, and individualized instruction.

The Department of Exceptional Education offers several programs and services to students with special education needs. All services and programs are fully designed to assist with the development and growth of each student.

Our services are built on strong relationships and our 1:1 Behavior Aids are dedicated to helping the students we serve function and grow in the least restrictive educational environment.

The Office of Special Education Instruction directs and supports the development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of Pre K-12 educational programs, curricula, and services that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. The office plans and provides professional development for staff and administrators and provides instructional leadership for and supervision, coordination, and evaluation of early childhood, elementary, secondary, career and transition programs and services.

Educational and Behavioral Interventions for Challenging Students (EBICS) Program is for students who exhibit aggressive and/or severe disruptive behavior and are diagnosed as intellectually disabled.

Provides special education services to students with severe disabilities, ages two through 21, who are found eligible for special education and other related services by a multidisciplinary team.
