Provides instructional services to Charlottesville, Albemarle County and other Central Virginia residents whose academic skills are below the 12th grade level. Services help adults improve their basic skills, prepare for the GED exam, learn English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and learn together with their children. General Adult Education (GAE) provides instructional services to Charlottesville, Albemarle County and other Central Virginia residents who are working toward a high school diploma. It is one of the 22 Federal and State funded adult basic education programs serving the Commonwealth of Virginia.

A second adult education offering is The High School Credit Program which provides an opportunity for adults to complete their high school diploma when they are missing just a few classes. A standard adult high school diploma is awarded upon successful completion of all graduation requirements for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
